Mission Team 2010

2010 was primarily a medical mission. The team included Leon and Vicki Cooper (Founder of Loving God’s Children), Gary and Rachel Chaney (whom God would call to move their family to Zambia 5 years later to oversee the building of the Murundu Mission Hospital of Hope), and four others from the Kansas City area. Medical clinics were held for three days and people lined up for hours waiting to be seen. Patients for treated for everything from tetanus to skin rash, serious wounds to high blood pressure and many were given medication for worms.

They also gave away hundreds of pairs of glasses sent by the Lion’s Club. The team held AWANA Day with the children in Mufulira and played with the children, taught them about Jesus, and fed them (AWANA is a children’s ministry program and is derived from the first letters of “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15). Vicki Cooper also interviewed 40+ orphans and widows and took their information to help find support for them.

One day a young man, who was an orphan, walked 3 hours to speak with the team about an idea. Chris and the others were deeply moved by his story. Check out Timothy’s story and see the divine appointment God set up for Chris and this team.
