Education

Help make education possible for the youth of Zambia. Many children do not receive or complete their education due to the unaffordable cost of education and the many other sociocultural barriers. School attendance and successful completion of a college diploma in Zambia reduces the incidences of early marriage, prostitution, sex trafficking, alcohol use, teen pregnancies, crime, spread of HIV/AIDS and poverty. How can you help change the destiny of a child and a country?

Option 1: Sponsor a young child

  • Sponsor a child: $30/month provides a child’s basic needs including provisions for school and 1 kg bag of Millie Mill/Nshima (the food staple)

Options 2: Pay for a young child’s education for a year

  • Donate $100/year= Primary School K-grade 7: (Includes school fees, uniforms, school shoes, and school supplies).
  • Donate $200/year= Secondary School grade 8-12: (includes school fees, uniforms, school shoes, and school supplies)

Option 3: Pay for a young adult to go to college or vocational school
Identify a young adult who has met criteria such as: are considered vulnerable, are accepted to a college, have a relationship with Director of Family Support/Education, complete an interview by All God's Children Zambia-Director of Family Support/Education, and submit yearly grades. (See pictures of students who need sponsoring)

  • Donate $300-$1200 per year to pay for a year of college leading to a college diploma obtained in average of 3 years.

*Consistent with our mission, Loving God’s Children targets students pursuing diplomas in health care or education.
There is not a High School in the villages we work in. They must walk 2 hours one way to town for school or move in with family. The parents earn less than $2 per day. These obstacles forces many children to drop out of school after 7th grade.

JESUS AND EDUCATION CAN CHANGE THE CYCLE OF POVERTY

Timothy Nsanji (First college student sponsored)

Timothy:

"My name is Timothy Nsanji. I am from Mulingo, Zambia. My life has had many ups and downs. When I was in the 9th grade, my mother died. My father followed when I was in 11th grade laving myself, two younger sisters and a younger brother orphaned. We were some of the fortunate ones in my country, my uncle Abraham took us in.

In a country filled with poverty, I had a dream. My heart's desire was to go to college. I wanted to get a degree in equipment repair. A degree would allow me to care for my family and provide a better life for them.

In the summer of 2010, I had applied and been accepted to a college in Mufulira and had passed the entrance exam. I sought the help of a bishop in Mufulira as I had heard he could sometimes help young men like myself. He told me that he did not have the resources to help but he had a group of people coming from America that may have a way. My uncle and I walked three hours in faith that they might be able to help."

Chris:

"Our team was holding a medical clinic when this young man walked in. The story above is a brief summary of his life. He and his aged uncle did just what he said, they WALKED for more than three hours to see if there was anything we could do to help him. Timothy had stepped out in faith and been accepted into college but in order to attend he needed to come up with the tuition money. The cost of college was $2600 per year; that included room and board. Our team was deeply impacted by this young man and committed to try and raise the tuition for him. None of us were wealthy; we stepped out in faith, just as Timothy had done, and trusted God to provide. When we returned to the states we shared Timothy's story with our church. God moved on people's hearts and provided the money Timothy needed to complete his degree and graduate.

Fast-forward to Summer 2013. Another team had traveled from the U.S. to Mufulira to minister and hold medical clinics. During one of our clinic days, in walked a distinguished looking young man. He had a poise about him and walked with an air of confidence yet with humility. Gary Chaney spotted him, got a big smile on his face and stopped what he was doing to go greet him. He introduced him as Timothy. Timothy had heard our team was in town and came to thank us and tell how God has blessed him.

Today, Timothy is working full-time and taking care of himself, and providing for his siblings - all because people chose love over ease, faith over sight, and allowed God to work through them.

When we all work together, our little-bit becomes a-lot; add God to the equation and the possibilities are limitless!"
